Wouldn't it be great to get an extra $521 into your KiwiSaver? As your KiwiSaver adviser, we want to ensure you don’t miss out! 

You may already know that the government pays 50 cents for every dollar you contribute to your KiwiSaver account each year, up to $521.43.

To get the full amount:

  • You need to be aged 18-65;

  • Living in New Zealand;

  • Not yet eligible for a retirement withdrawal, currently reaching the age of 65 and,

  • Contributed at least $1,043 between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021. (That’s just a bit more than $20 a week) This can be a combination of employee & voluntary contributions. 

If you can’t contribute the full $1,042.86 you will still receive 50 cents for every dollar you do contribute.

How do you know if you have contributed enough?

You’ll automatically get the maximum government contribution if you've been a KiwiSaver member for the full year (from 1 July to 30 June), aged 18-65 and the following apply:

  • You're employed/self-employed

  • You earn at least $34,762 per year

  • You contribute at least 3% to KiwiSaver

OR if you've been contributing more than $20 a week, on average, for the full year (from 1 July to 30 June).

OR if you've made one or more lump-sum contributions totalling at least $1,042.86 between 1 July and 30 June.

If you haven’t already checked, you can register online at Booster or download the BoosterNZ app.  You will need to enter your e-mail address associated with Booster & member number. 

It’s super easy to top up! 

  • Pay via Internet Banking  - Set up Booster KiwiSaver as a bill payee; you will need your IRD & your member number 

  • Set up a Direct Debit
