John Newland brings to the Advisory Board a unique set of skills, given his management background across various industries.
John holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration and has completed numerous USA based executive management programs. He is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and a fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and the New Zealand Institute of Management.
From 1988 until late 2006, John held the position of Chief Executive for Farmlands Trading Society Limited, one of New Zealand’s top 100 companies. During those years, Farmland’s annual sales increased from $61M to $350M, the number of stores from 16 to 32 and total staff to 280.
John’s previous roles have been in the oil industry with Shell Oil NZ Limited and the beverage industry, primarily with New Zealand Breweries.
John is now pursuing other business interests. His current directorships are with Marist Holdings Greenmeadows Limited (Mission Wines). He is also Chairman of Direct Imports (NZ) Limited, Hawkes Bay Power Consumers Trust and Tu Meke First Choice PHO Limited.
