Don joined the financial services industry in 1974 with National Mutual (now AXA). In 1986 he established an independent financial advisory company – formerly DL Stewart and Associates Limited. Don is Executive Director and founding principal of Stewart Group.
He is an Authorised Financial Adviser, Associate Financial Planner and Associate Life Underwriter of the Institute of Financial Advisers (IFA), a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and a trustee for a number of substantial family trusts. Don also holds a number of directorships in privately owned companies.
Don and his wife Mary have three adult children.
Outside of work hours Don enjoys tennis, golf, winter skiing, duck and claybird shooting, working on the northerly slopes of his terraced organic fruit and vegetable garden, walking up Te Mata Peak and participating in the annual Triple Peaks challenge.
Don and Mary can also be found enjoying time away together at their lakeside house in Hatepe.
